Aerospace leaders at the House of Lords for Air League’s Annual Reception
Earlier this month, we felt very privileged to be invited to the House of Lords to attend the Annual Reception and Awards Ceremony of The Air League, a charity we proudly sponsor.
The Air League is a pioneering organisation that helps to change young people’s lives by expanding access to aviation and aerospace education. Their incredible work empowers many talented youngsters from diverse and often disadvantaged backgrounds to be inspired by opportunities and innovation in the aviation and aerospace industries.
The historic surroundings of the House of Lords provided a fitting backdrop for the occasion, with none other than space legend Tim Peake presenting awards to an exceptional group of recipients.
We listened in awe at some of the stories told about the individuals receiving the accolades, including the prestigious Billy Deacon Award, which recognises exceptional courage and dedication by search and rescue helicopter crew members. And the Scott-Farnie Medal, awarded for significant work in the field of air education.
Partnering with The Air League as a corporate sponsor was an easy decision for us. The impact of their work is so clear to see in the faces of the young people we were lucky enough to meet at this and other events. By being a sponsor, we know we’re helping in some small way to ensure the charity can continue its vital work, and that means a lot.
It wasn’t just the future generation of the aviation industry who were present on the day. The event also attracted senior leaders across the sector, who all came together to celebrate the individuals and organisations shaping the future of flight.
The diversity of attendees showed the wide appeal and importance of the cause. Keir Mather MP, Minister for Maritime, Aviation and Decarbonisation, was present, as were numerous former servicemen, leaders of top transport companies, and college and university students. A melting pot of experience and talent, all with one goal — to support the industry and help change lives.
Special recognition should also go to Janine Hornsby, CEO of The Air League, whose passion and energy were evident, as always, throughout the evening. She ensured the young people at the heart of the charity’s work were rightly recognised as the event’s VIPs.
The evening was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when industry, education and charitable organisations come together with a shared purpose. We’re proud to support The Air League and look forward to seeing even more young people inspired by their work in the years ahead.
