Our commitment to The Air League Charity
Following the worldwide lay-off and furlough of staff during the pandemic, 2.3 million jobs were lost in aviation. There’s currently a global shortage of pilots, cabin crew, maintenance engineers and operations staff, and this situation is expected to worsen over the next few years.
Following the 25th anniversary of Artemis’ foundation in 1999, we decided we wanted to do something to help. As a result, we’re delighted to have become a corporate sponsor of The Air League.

What The Air League Does for the Aviation Industry
Founded in 1909, The Air League is the UK’s leading aviation, aerospace and space charity. It aims to change lives by inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals, and break down barriers into these industries through its scholarship and outreach programmes.
The Air League aims to spark an interest in our future pilots, cabin crew, engineers and ground crew, and increase social mobility by showing these opportunities are available to everyone.

How Artemis Supports Aspiring Aviation Professionals
Many young people from a diverse range of backgrounds have no idea their skill set could be ideal for an exciting and rewarding career in aviation.
The Air League delivers a range of programmes from early education through to career entry and beyond, including workshops, hands-on activities and behind-the-scenes tours facilitated in partnership with aviation, aerospace and space corporate partners. Over the last ten years, scholarships and bursaries worth over £2 million have been allocated to young people across the UK to enhance their careers in aviation.
All of us at Artemis are passionate about aviation and the opportunities and satisfaction that working in this dynamic sector can bring. It’s not always easy for young people to find their dream career; knowledge is the key and this is something we can bring in spades to our partnership with The Air League.
Why We Believe in The Future of Aviation
Aviation is a significant contributor to global economic growth, facilitating tourism, trade, employment, defence and disaster response. Our work in sourcing aerospace component solutions for aircraft and training simulators brings us into contact with all branches of the industry, and we know that without a considerable increase in the number of pilots, cabin crew and ground crew joining the sector, there will be serious consequences worldwide.
Our partnership with The Air League helps educate and support aspiring aviation achievers to reach their goals. Its Soaring to Success careers enrichment programme bridges the gap between education and industry, providing accessible pathways, removing barriers to entry and proving that there’s a role for anyone with the ambition to reach for the sky. Other programmes support veterans, champion diversity and inspire sustainable innovation.

“As business owners and parents, we know that the route to work isn’t always straightforward, especially for those trying to find a fulfilling career that suits their interests and skill sets, but who are uncertain of how to get there. This makes The Air League the perfect fit for our vision of supporting those who are keen to work in the industry, but don’t know how, and those who don’t know about the diverse range of job roles on offer but would make ideal candidates.”

“We’re delighted to be supporting The Air League and making our contribution to helping people to reach their full potential while alleviating the shortage of aviation professionals and spreading the word about the amazing and diverse career opportunities available.”

How You Can Support Our Mission
With the shortage of aviation professionals projected to worsen over the next decade, it’s vital that it’s addressed now. The Air League membership packages offer exciting opportunities for individuals and organisations to support its vision and get young people looking skywards.
Individuals can volunteer with programmes and projects and take advantage of the substantial networking prospects, as well as the chance to apply for scholarships and bursaries offered by The Air League. A corporate membership combines the chance to contribute to a life-changing mission as well as demonstrate corporate social responsibility, increase brand awareness, support employee volunteering and take part in a wide spectrum of business communication events.
The Air League aims to spark an interest in our future pilots, cabin crew, engineers and ground crew, and increase social mobility by showing these opportunities are available to everyone.
